im currently a high school junior
and graduating in may 2009

and the thing is, some of the "bigger" scholarships and financial aids require united states citizenship
right now, im a legal permanant resident with eligibility to become citizen in july of 2009--after i graduate high school
and the thing is, this isn't really my fault since it took my parents a while to get our green cards
so i'm 18 (out of my parents guardience) when i'm eligible to be a citizen
but this is AFTER everything for college is settled

my counselers and the colleges im looking at said that a documentation of proof of eligibility and promise to become a citizen at the first available opportunity will be equal to a proof of citizenship (and i REALLY do want to become a citizen of US)

so the thing is, how do i get this? do i just mail or go to the immigration office? i heard that they're not very generous at giving these out...

Sorry, you simply do not meet the requirements of those scholarships or grants. Once you become a citizen you could apply.

You can't prove future citizenship. You don't automatically become a citizen in 7/2009, you become eligible to apply for citizenship then.

You know the thing that you will be eligible in 7/2009 for citizenship does NOT prove that you will be citizen for sure. July 2009 just makes you eligible but does not guarantee it for you, you still have to go thru the meeting and all the process, and be cleared for the criminal history, etc.

I'm sorry but I'm afraid that at this time you just have to wait until you get your citizenship cause scholarships are really picky about this and won't grant you anything until you meet their requirements :(

Good Luck!

Read the pamphlet below. Find every little thing that is required for you to become a citizen. Get every bit of paperwork that will back these up. This will show that you are doing everything in your power to become a citizen.(short of getting married or joining the service). Apply for naturalization 90 days prior to the five year anniversary of the date listed on your green card(see pamphlet)not before or you will be automatically rejected and may be penalized a number of months for filling too soon. When they receive your application they will then send you a receipt similar to the one you got for your green card stating that you have applied for citizenship. Good Luck!

the customary difficulty I see with unlawful immigration, isn't inevitably in any of those issues you point out, yet particularly contained in the systemic driving down of wages, while companies could make the main much less costly unlawful immigrant hard artwork, particularly than hiring US electorate to do the artwork. As you need to comprehend while you're an clever individual, information related to this and different outcomes of unlawful immigration, are predicated upon understanding precisely that which those attempting to guard unlawful immigrants from the regulation in many cases so assiduously seek for to conceal: the recommendations approximately who's and who isn't an unlawful immigrant. Joe's shape organization used to pay $17 an hour to entice carpenters: rapidly, Joe "got here across" 200 Hispanic men who suggested that they had eagerly artwork for $12 an hour. He gave the boot to his US Citizen workers, and employed the illegals. He pretended he did no longer be conscious of they have been unlawful immigrants, or suggested he did no longer care, because of the fact they have been sturdy workers and he suggested they have been candy people who'd had a problematic existence and needed a wreck. information are difficulty to manipulation to verify one's reason. Anecdotal data is in many cases extra stable.

There is nothing you can do but wait until you have citizenship. Be grateful you are on the right path. Another year is nothing compared to a life time.

Apply immediately for US citizenship by presenting your residency status in the US so that you could apply for scholarships.
