Question:
How would you deal with illegal aliens, other than deportation?

Serious responses only. As much as I'd like to say "deport", we ARE America and we are capable of forgiveness. Besides forcibly moving 20 million people out of the country is prohibitively expensive. The egg cannot be unscrambled.

So, after considering the needs of the legal residents and those of the affected criminals, I propose the following alternative to more Congressional BS.

1. Troops come home from overseas and begin being stationed on our Northern and Southern borders, with the coasts and ports covered by Navy, Coast Guard, and the Port Authorities. All will be backed up by Air Forces.

2. Not a fence, but motion sensors, infrared, and other technologies in order to monitor the extremely vulnerable southern border.

3. All illegal residents that do not turn themselves in will be deported and never allowed back in.

4. All illegal residents that turn themselves in will sign documents and submit to criminal background checks and the proper screening process.

Ok and who is going to do the jobs they do now if they are Deported ? Employers will be forced to pay alot more for someone picking there crops or cooking your food at restaurants you enjoy or building your house and just about everything else you like. so i guess you wont mind paying 10 or 20 % more for things making the same pay you make now. sounds like a great deal. Be Honest most americans will not do the jobs they do period.

"Illegal alien" is a misnomer -- there should be no such thing. Living wherever an honest person wants (and can afford) to is a Human Right, which ought to trump any laws to the contrary. If one's only crime consists of exercising that right, one is not at all a criminal. It is amazing, that today's Americans are so harshly against people, who simply try to do the same thing, the Americans' ancestors have done -- through Ellis Island or even before then.

I don't disagree with amnesty all together.

I was of the hard line position like you but I have rethought the whole thing. I know we do depend on the labor. We need to also work on making the residency application more transparent, efficient, user-friendly. This will help remove the temptation to to the illegal thing.

We improve the system to where it's easier to do criminal histories, keep track of every immigrant. We can also offer incentives for those who learn English and civics.

I think there's a hard way to solve the problems, but there are smarter ways, even if they are still not easy.

Too many flaws with your plan to make it work.

Don't get me wrong, I am in no way a supporter of this illegal immigration crap.

First it is against Federal laws to use Federal troops inside the U.S. in a police action. And don't start about the NG at the Borders now. They are not out arresting anyone. People from my unit are there and they just support the Border Patrol.

You are under the assumption that the illegals WANT to become American citizens. Most do not, they just want to come and make money, then go back to their homes and live like kings on what they've earned here. Say you save $100,000. over 10 years here in the U.S., that would go a long way south of the border!

And to all the little children that posted comments like "If you aren't a native American, you are illegal". Geeeeesh, grow up and try to understand just the basics of American Law.

1. Give us 200 hours of labor building a wall between Mexico and the US for I don't think a fence is good enough, 12 million people giving us 200 hours should be able to build a 1900 mile long wall.

2. Then, after your 200 hours of labor, you get a right to stay but that does not mean citizenship. Make it clear you break the law you NEVER become a US Citizen.

3. Change the law that makes it possible for illegal aliens to have babies in the US which makes the baby a citizen...new law says only legal citizens can give birth to US citizens.

4. Employers; knowingly hire an illegal alien results in 1 year in prison for each offense, unknowingly hire an illegal alien which is negligence for not checking and you pay $5k 1st offense, $25k 2nd offense, $100k third and each additional offense.

Those here have an avenue to stay, the rule of law is upheld, and the change is made to insure the problem does not continue....fair compromise.

Your fix is way too complex. You also are missing a big part of the issue.

If americans in general have 1.6 children per woman, and illegal aliens have in general 4.8 children per woman, that 20 million can potentally outnumber the other 300 million americans in less than 60 years. Doubling our population to over 600 million.

While we NEED higher birthrates to maintain america, (2.5 per woman would be great), they need to be children of Americans who know the history of america, the culture and language.

~ We must first end birthright citizenship IMMEDIATELY to children born to illegals

~ We must second secure the borders

~ We must third deport all illegal aliens in prison to their homeland countries, OR cut off all trade ties.

~ We must create a strict, caught 3 times, and you get the death sentence to deter illegal immigrants from costing american taxpayers ANOTHER 500 Billion dollars.

~ Adopt and promote a VERY STRICT, "Illegals LEAVE NOW or loose EVERYTHING when we catch you."

It is a nonviolent takeover of america. In 18 years the number of so called americans which are descendants of those inital illegal immigrants will be no less than 65 Million. And they will have been a burden to tax payers of over $1,000,000,000,000.oo

THAT IS 1 TRILLION DOLLARS

I think the fence is the best bet. I do not want ANY cameras or drones over america because that only punishes the American Citizens for the majority of their deployment, and VERY little time actually spotting illegals. A fence (2 layer) which is patrolled is a GREAT idea, and believe it or not very cost effective.

The illegals are a huge problem for America--Some say 20 million, some say 12 million, do the math in twenty years, I shudder to think about it. We could start with the illegals in jail and prison, deport them, then make it tough on those who employ the illegals. We seem to find the money for everything else except deporting the illegals--Something is wrong with this picture.

They do not belong here! They are lawbreakers. Not only are they a burden on the taxpayer, but we do not even know who all is in this country. So they are also a national security threat. A threat to the safety of our people! I am not only talking about Mexicans here but people from other countries who slip over our borders and are possibly bringing in things that will lead to our demise.

Anyway, with property and school taxes going through the roof, and illegals demanding "rights" they are not entitled to, refusing to learn English, waving a flag of a foreign country, dropping anchor babies, collecting WIC, food stamps, and section 8 housing, stealing social security numbers, making the demand for new jails to house the criminals go through the roof, etc.. Get the picture? It is too much of a burden on the American people. Yes, we CAN send them back! The only other free thing they should get courtesy of the American taxpayer..... is a military escort back to the border!

Some good theories there.

But why does everyone assume they are not making min. wage? They are making well above it, that is why they don't work legitimate jobs. They get paid under the table and they get higher wages than most people here working regular jobs.

That is the main reason the people on visas end up here illegally because they won't keep real jobs and real pay and won't keep adequate housing that is regulated for everyone else.

I think your plan sounds very reasonable. You should sbmit it for Senate approval. I also think something along the lines of a Probation or Parole Official should oversee many who are kind of iffy.No records but ties to unsavory groups. And if they still continue those ties they get deported whether they came when they were 2 years old or not.And no chance of ever becoming a citizen should be added. They gave up that right with illegal entry.I know that sounds harsh but we need to make a point.
2007-09-09 03:28:35 UTC
I like your idea except for 2 things. I think after they are citizens they should be allowed to vote. Also you should be able to collect social security if not then they shouldnt have to pay into it. And the penalty should be for a set period of time. IF someone is here illegally for 2 years and then become legal they should not be required to pay for the rest of their lives a fee. There should be a penalty but there has to be a limit to that penalty not a lifetime penalty.

A noble idea, but no.We could finance the deportations by turning down the public assistance checks these leeches receive every month. And crackdown on employers so hard, they wont even think about hiring/keeping an illegal on the payroll. It really is that simple. Those that use invalid social security numbers should pay the government what really is owed in taxes, serve their prison time, then get them the hell out.
2007-09-09 00:19:45 UTC
No amnesty of any kind. We need our troops where they are. Motion sensors would be a good idea, but with auto-fire weapons that detect and track movement based on the heat signature of a human. Seed the river with man eating fish. To root out the illegals, just put a bounty on them. Even if n o one gets turned in, the idea of being shot by trigger happy Americans would probably be enough to make all of them run for the border in droves.

Let me say in advance how wonderful it is to meet someone like you. Please send me your money, home, car, possessions, your job, and any other assets you may have - oh, and of course you must change your holidays, language, your way of thinking, your politics, your views on children, society, and accept without question any laws passed against your life, liberty, or pursuit of happiness.

And I'm just warming up!

It is such a pleasure to steal from such a forgiving chap. Once you do this seriously, then you'll know what others would do seriously without deportation.

We have 9 guest worker programs including 1 for agriculture. They could have applied at any time. They don't want to be Americans, just work under the table and collect welfare.

if you think about it anybody here now including you would have to register and if you commit a felony you get deported back to where ever your ancestors came from .if your not native American your an illegal alien i doubt the Indians wanted us here. and as far as the incentive for cheap labor and a better life lets not forget why you colonized here to begin with.

What are you from? native American? Do you live in an Indian reservation? are this "proposed ideas" will be applicable in your family ? well, just in case you're not a native American

Never fly, too many requirements on people who are getting by for free now. The illegals themselves wouldn't agree to that.

I personally am against any form of Amnesty.

I don't care what it takes to get rid of them but I have no problem saying that violence is probably the final answer.

While I do not care for the Nazi's, they did have one saying which fits this situation..."Final Solution."

EDIT: Thats OK, you don't need to be sorry, it's your Question.

I'm not sorry either.

I watch video of rallies, and read the articles by them, I have gone from being anti-illegal to anti-Mexican based on what they themselves have said, my opinions are based on their opinions of us, so I am not sorry one bit.

EVIL? Hmmmm...only when I feel threatend in my own country by invaders.

SHOOT THEM ALL AND HAVE THERE BODIES ON THE BORDER AS AN EXAMPLE OF WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU COME ACROSS ILLEGALLY. AND I AM SERIOUS. WHY CAN'T WE USE THE CRIMINAL THUGS TO PICK THE FRUIT MY TAX DOLLARS ARE ONLY MAKING THEM STRONG AND SMART THUGS WHEN THEY GET OUT OF JAIL

yes iam agaist amnesty and we dont have to deport them all at once we can deport them little by little i mean say if another 12 million are so come in are we going to say ow just let them stay because there to expensive to deport if we are worried about the cost we shouldnt let them stay.... i mean to me thats whats costing us by letting them stay
2007-09-09 00:14:41 UTC
Good grief. Why do all you newbies make this out to be so complicated. Just stop the incentive to come her illegally, shut down the employers and its over....geeesh!
2007-09-09 00:25:16 UTC
fine people that employee illegals and make it big, fine people who rent them houses and apt. make it big. If we do this they will leave. no money no jobs no house no stay.
