I'm writing an essay about CA immigration, and in the essay and have to have some pro and cons about the immigration. I have written A LOT of pros, but pleeeeeeassse help me wring a con, because its very hard. I am trying to talk about the negatives and a rebuttal to this statement:

“Immigrants in California are less likely to use public services and more likely to contribute significant amounts than U.S.-born citizens, which equates to a substantial contribution to the Golden State economy, according to a report released on Jan. 26 by an immigrant advocacy group.”(immigrantsinusa.blogspot.com)

how can i go against it?
thanks sooo soo much(:

The lazy americans (not all) lose their jobs to harder working immigrants.

Immigrants make this country rich.

Americans are immigrants.

Do the work no one wants to do.

Hi

Well for one your statement that “immigrants are less likely to use public services” is Totally off !! Have you been to a medical or public welfare office lately ?

Honestly, Citizens here in CA can't even get food stamps because we make too much on unemployment vs a social worker stating to a citizen "hey, if you were illegal and pregnant, you would qualify for food stamps, medical / Medicare and rental assistance" !!

This is sooooo wrong !!

Our system needs to be changed Big time !!

Immigrants are very likely to use public services such as welfare because they can get assistance without having to pay it back, because once their needs are met, they can go back to their country.

Believe, me I've seen it with my own eyes !!

I had a co-worker that was from the middle east, she was a nurse and married to a doctor, no kids so they had plenty of money, but yet, her mother flew here to the USA to get a hip replacement for free and once she was done recuperating, guess what, she went back to the middle east !

Cons of immigrants is that not only do they use the public services but it costs the tax payers in the long run. Immigrants can get in a car accident and not have to pay for it because they take off back to their country. Immigrants can drive around without car insurance because they aren't citizens and also they don't have to pay taxes because once again they are not citizens. Also immigrants can’t vote, because they are not citizens.

There are alot of cons, you just really have to think about it or talk to someone who has seen it first hand.

Everything that people put in reports is not necessarily the truth.

Also there is a big difference between illegal immigrants and legal immigrants.

I would guess there are relatively few legal immigrants (non-U.S. born citizens) - and yes, those legal ones, here on visas, etc. do contribute substantially. But to lump legal and illegal immigrants together is misleading, at best.Obviously, illegal immigrants do contribute but they also use a lot of public services - schools, etc.

The system we built to take care of our own is now being overwhelmed by the largest mass migration in human history, and it continues. What makes it bad is that they bring their culture with them, and at such a rate that assimilation is impossible. There are countless hard honest workers among them who in fact do take the jobs few of us wanted, but the danger is that there are violent thugs by the tens of thousands among them also, who have no intention of working, but rather taking advantage of the soft "Gringo" with criminal enterprises from drugs to murders. Real statistics are very difficult to come by because there has been a politically correct policy of including Hispanic crime in the white category statistic. And it's outright BS to claim they don't take advantage of our human services, at least in this area, to the point that whites are now a small minority in our own clinics, and our budget for food and housing assistance has gone through the ceiling requiring us to divert funds from other needed parts of the infrastructure. This situation is no good and almost nothing is being done to address it. I'm afraid that unless someone in Washington get's the nerve to do their job there could be a backlash that may be more ugly than we anticipate. It shouldn't have escaped anyone's notice that increasing numbers of spineless politicians are now actually starting to abandon their offices in fear of what may be coming. If you believe in a divine presence it may be a good time to start asking for help, I don't see it coming from anywhere else!

ok here is something you should think about. How about the millions we spend on securing our boarders. In the northern boarder with canada we employee only 1,700 boarder agents but, in the south boarder with Mexico we employee over 14,000 boarder agents. This country spends a lot of money trying to keep the illegals out. Sure they pay their measly taxes using stolen identity and yeah Ok they don't get as much of assistance but how about the all the hospital bills they skip out on after giving incorrect personal information. What about all of the underground activity that goes on that this government don't get to tax them on. As far as I'm concerned, every ounce of resource we have to spend on illegal aliens is an ounce of resource that are wasted.
