Question:
How does supporting illegal immigration make sense to you?

And/or Amensty make sense? It doesn't make sense to me at all. I and others have asked pro's many times to present facts supporting their cause and they've failed to present any. On the other hand, anti illegals have presented plenty of facts over the past few months, enough to persuade any logical thinking persons mind. It's an easy question. How does it make SENSE to support the illegal immigrant movement, or Amnesty? I am not asking you to show facts this time, I'm just interested in the logical sense in your support.

They can't give you any real logic, can they?

It makes no sense to support any form of illegal action for immigration. If we are so bad off that we can't get people to work poorer paying jobs, then the answer should be to boost the pay to support what they would work. But I have heard too many times only half-hearted efforts have been given by employers trying to advertise for legal workers. If guest workers are the partial answer, then so be it. But those people should be monitored closely and sent back at the end of the contracted time they were hired for.

I live in Phoenix and no other city other than Los Angeles has as much impact from illegals, however, from a logical point of view, the answer by Mr. Stomp makes sense to me.

It's really more a logical side of things for me. How in the world will the USA deal with mass deportations? I see a middle of the road conclusion to all of this. By the way, he makes sense that there is no pro-criminality in the belief of amnesty and a logical conclusion, I rather see a truce.

I don't feel it's a case of putting others before us here, but rather dealing with the mess that has already been created.

I usually do not answer questions with the language ''pro illegal'' and much less a question asking why anyone would ''support illegal immigration.'' Since you had the common sense to include the word ''amnesty,'' I will add to "elpibe's" answer.

First of all, anyone in their right mind would never, and read it here, NEVER support ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION!!

To answer your question about why people have failed to present any facts that make sense to you, let me say that the level of political knowledge in this forum is RTR (reduced to the ridiculous) in almost all instances.

For example, just the way in which the questions are asked speaks to ignorance. The answers are no better because this forum suffers from ignorance in governmental, congressional issues. Anyone referring to people here as pro-criminals automatically sets up the arbitrary answer of nonsense. If you wish a real answer, ask it in the proper category of government; you have more sophisticated participants there. Otherwise, consider the semantics of how you pose your question regarding those for amnesty of the illegals residing in the USA. You will engage a different type of participant.

You state it's an easy question, but not when when you use the improper approach in making your inquiry. No one supports the "illegal immigration movement." People support or do not support the MANNER in which our government should deal with the cause and effect of our own government's lack of concern for the issue.

Therein lies the complexities of the REALITY (critical mass). So, for people who support complete security of BOTH borders, amnesty for the ones already here, and most assuredly a proper treatment of the human beings in question, we look beyond the personal agendas involved in the participants answering here.

If it were as simple as deporting them all, it would have already happened. If it were as simple as you make it, would Congress still be screwing around with it? To imagine that this monster problem can be resolved with the endorsement of people on the yahoo immigration category is ludicrous! To realize that the complexities of the cost involved in mass deportations brings another type of fallout is therein the CATCH22! So, doesn't it stand to reason, that Congress will work toward the lesser of the two evils? It should result in a win-win and you will never see a total mass deportation, because it is simply not rationally cost effective.

listed under are my responses on your 5 speaking factors. a million. – no person is illegitimate. unlawful is an adjective for habit, no longer a guy or woman. in case you may connect unlawful to somebody violating a regulation, no be counted if federal, state or interior of sight, then there are various greater unlawful people than only the immigrants. 2. – the way I know it, many of the undocumented immigrants’ babies are US voters by ability of beginning. So the super numbers being quoted by ability of public place of work seekers are skewed for sensationalism. An undocumented immigrant does no longer qualify for public advantages (preparation & emergency care excluded). 3. – This usa does no longer understand poverty. What poverty there is could be addressed. The financial gadget in this usa is such that everyone who desires to artwork can locate artwork. there is not any excuse for unemployment interior the U. S. right this moment. in line with probability there are people who experience above the jobs obtainable, yet that's no excuse for unemployment. 4. – that's is going to you. i'm able to't argue with you in this one. you're suited. 5. – one among our maximum renown American icons – the Statue of Liberty boasts here words, “supply me your drained, your undesirable, your huddled hundreds yearning to respire loose, the wretched refuse of your teeming shore. deliver those, the homeless, tempest-toss to me. I carry my lamp beside the golden door!” How lots greater patriotic, my expensive James, could you have us be?

It's nice to know that there are people out there that have common sense! This, to me, is a common sense issue. Why aren't we banning together to stop this invasion? It's illegal, it's a strain on our economy, police force, schools, social services, and now our military......Something should have been done decades ago......Look at the neighborhoods these illegals migrate to......I'm a real estate agent and over the past couple years I have seen countless communities plummet in into slums and consequently drop in price. Now this is messing with American investment......There is a cost to this invasion.....and you and I will be the ones who pay. There are so many consequences to this that we have only scratched the surface.

Illegal immigration only makes sense for the employers and the illegals, not for those who fund but still also need to use social services like public school, health care, etc.

I am fine if they want to come here and stay, but only if they do it right. I don't support giving all illegal immigrants amnesty and letting them stay. That is saying that if you do something wrong and illegal it is okay. Besides there are a lot of Americans who could use those jobs, even if they are low paying.

It does not, and it should not be allowed. We provide far too many services in foreign languages. That is unacceptable, and a waste of money. People who immigrate here out to learn English. Imagine how much money we can save by not worrying about offering services in other languages? Immigration is fine, but it has to be done legally. Illegal immigration, especially in California, has gone too far, too much, too expensive. It must stop.

I agree! Legal immigration is wonderful! It really bothers me that other countries have strict policies on immigration and the US tries to limit illegal immigration and now we are the bad guys. How the h*** does that make sense?

it doesn't make any sense. most of the people don't have any argument except "they just want a better life." and "the USA was founded by immigrants." neither of those are a good reason to support illegal immigration.
2006-08-23 07:18:45 UTC
Illegal means against the law. Legal immigration I have no problem with. I agree with the towns that have passed ordinanvces fining employers and landlords that rent to undocumented aliens.

Coporate & goverment greed! They will stack us like firewood to make a few extra dollars! They do not care because most of our goverment are wealthy! They don't have to live among these people.

If the 11 million undocumented workers in the U.S. today were given equal rights, it would abolish the legal segregation that serves as the means to exploit the powerless. It would also undermine the racism that justifies the militarization of the border. It would give a voice to the voiceless and increase the number of voters who could have recourse against politicians trying to build their careers by scapegoating immigrants. It would also help revitalize a labor movement in crisis.

This is the demand now emanating from the streets, and it is sending chills down the spine of Corporate America.

While Congress is being forced to respond to the demands of the protests, it is only as a means to defend corporate interests, reshuffle their cards and head off a new civil rights movement. Only when the politicians are forced to concede to the organized power of a united movement will they reluctantly accept demands for equality.

it's not that i support illegal immigrants..... but we look at the absurdity and hypocrisy of the problem.....

it is absurd and hypocritical for 3 reasons:

1. people complain about illegals draining our system yet we all benefit from their cheap labor

2. illegal immigration would cease if our government would punish small businesses and corporations that hire them

3. policy doesn't exist that provides opportunities for foreign workers who are NEEDED in America.... yet protect the American worker from being displaced or being paid a non-livable wage

illegals come here for a better life.... and we must create policy that will treat them humanely yet benefit all of America as well..... not just large corporations with their huge profits..... this is hurting America!!!!!

amnesty makes sense because we are dealing with real human beings..... we are dealing with illegal immigrants w/ children that are American citizens!!!!! we are dealing with illegal immigrants who have been here since the age of one who don't speak Spanish or remember Mexico!!!!! they are more American than Mexican.... yet they don't have the proper papers!!!! if you look at all the intricacies of this complex problem you won't see it as black and white as you see it.... and you will see that this is a issue about humans!!!!!!!

It doesn't to me. To put others before those here is just not right. And yes others are being affected. Besides there are laws that have been broken and there is no excuse. If it were a emergency that would be different-this is not the case. Hurt to help--not in my book.

What doesn't make sense to me is deporting millions of ppl. What makes sense to me is securing the border ,screening the illegals(which they are doing now),and granting amnesty.
