Question:
Does Harry Reid really have a bone to pick with Joe Lieberman? ?

Or does he just need his large ego put into check?

Doesn't removing Lieberman as chairman of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee make it possible for the Democrats to open our borders full on?

This is a free country, and Lieberman can show support for whomever he chooses to.

WASHINGTON – Sen. Joe Lieberman's affiliation with Democrats was in question after a meeting Thursday with Majority Leader Harry Reid, steamed over the Connecticut independent's high-profile support of John McCain for president.

Reid, in a sternly worded statement after the 45-minute meeting, said no official decisions have been made. But an aide to the Nevada Democrat said Reid was leaning toward removing Lieberman as chairman of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee. The aide spoke on condition of anonymity because the discussions were confidential.

"While I understand that Sen. Lieberman has voted with Democrats a majority of the time, his comments and actions have raised serious concerns among many in our caucus," Reid said.

Hi Stone Cold,

ADDITIONAL EDIT PER COMMENTS:

Stone Cold, you're absolutely right. The fact is, though the Democrats have increased their majority, more of the new faces are from the conservative wing of the party than the liberal. This means that they will have problems passing very liberal legislation, even though on paper they look stronger.

This act of Reid's is political hypocrisy and cynicism in its purest form. Here's the deal.

The democrats abandoned Lieberman in 2006 because of his support for the war. After winning re-election as an Independent the Democrats (read: Harry Reid) sucked up to Lieberman because they needed his support to have a majority in the Senate. As a result they said nothing about his support for anything or anyone.

But now that they have 55 Senators (minus Lieberman) they don't need his support anymore and so are only too happy to throw him under the bus.

But hold on, there's more...

There are still oustanding races to call in this year's election. The Democrats' dream is to have a filibuster-proof Senate (which requires 60 Senators). If these other races break for the Democrats that will leave them with 59 Senators. Then watch Harry Ried Grovel and call Lieberman his best friend and bosom buddy to get his support for the Democrats.

Hope this helps. Cheers, mate.

Just a typical back stabbing Democrat.

Lieberman caucused with the Democrats, which is why the Democrats had the majority in the Senate. They needed Joe so they accepted him with open arms. But now the Democrats have a majority in the Senate without his help. Since they do not need Joe any more they dump him.

Fair weather friends best describes the Democrats.

What is going to happen is the blue Dog Democrats are going to get fed up fast with the Socialist movement within the party and they just might do like Joe and go Independent. Then if they caucus with the Republicans, the Republicans will gain control once again.

Since his speech at the 2008 Republican Convention endorsing John McCain for President, Lieberman no longer attends Democratic Senate caucus leadership strategy meetings or policy lunches.

Lieberman sponsored S.J. Res.46, the Senate version of H.J. Res. 114, that is, the Authorization for Use of Military Force Against Iraq Resolution of 2002, also called the Iraq Resolution.

He's a chicken hawk and an opportunist.

Of Course--In Leiberman's slight center-aisle career, he has developed a reputation as a "conservtaive" I guess. Supporting the war in Iraq is like being anti-abortion and democrat. They kick you out. :) Reid is a ;) Yeah-moron. This freakin' "Fairness Doctrine" is like what East Germany Did! Unconstituional. I'm a Reagan Conservative woohoo American hero! Good Day.

Glad to be the first one to respond to my old friend, Stone Cold. Yes revenge is the bone and they are going to try to destroy Lieberman. They will never forgive him for standing with the republicans on the war and on McCain.

If he had stood with alkida, the dumbacrats wouldn't even care. But the root of all evil republicans, that is unforgivable.

Edit; Ops I guess I wasn't fast enough.

It's Lieberman's punishment for supporting McCain.

Watch and see as Obama and his minions go after ANYONE who doesn't agree with their socialist and traitorous vision of the future.

F Reid.

Joe ought to retire. He merits each thing he gets. He needs to p.c.. a occasion and shop on with it. Democrat, self reliant, now republican? He knew what he substitute into playing with whilst he jumped on McCain's bandwagon. i'm no longer a democrat yet once you're taking a side shop on with it.

It would be very, very wise if Reid listens to the people for a change. DON"T remove Lieberman.
