Why do we cater so much to Hispanics?

Why is everything in english and spanish, they are in our country they should learn English, not us learn spanish. The other day I saw a car with a huge mexico flag drapped over a car, how disrespectful is that?

I am tired of illegal immigrants abusing the welfare system. My aunt has had welfare for 22 years, she has her own business and still milking this state and this nation.

I am hispanic and I am glad that I was raised the appropriate way. My mother was damned if I was going to be another statistic of parents taking advantage of the system. My mother and father came here the wrong way but they received their Permanent Staus immediately. Some people have lived here for 70 yrs. and do not know one lick of english, and all because we cater to them. What do you think?

Because they are the second greatest amount of voters. Another I heard that immigrants can vote as well, I could be wrong but sometimes I feel like a minority. Something else I heard was that raises are based on more than just senority but as well as well as speaking Spanish. Myself personally I do not feel I should have to learn it. I agree with you in retrospect; I go places sometimes and I ask a question of the person in the store or what not and they tell me how they dont speak english very well. Damn it.........I wish sometimes that I could leave sometimes but this is my home. Mexicans already have a home to go to.

In my city they come out every day in the morning and stand on the street corners looking for work. Alot of them get it too.....When I am looking for a job I wish I could just go out and stand on the corner and get picked up. No I have to go and file applications and pay taxes and take drug tests and provide criminal records. Man I can see why they like it here so much.

All that said..... U just have to do like me and most people and except the fact that like u said as long as we cater to them they will keep coming here and taking jobs and healhtcare that people were born here have trouble getting.

By the way u would think after 9/11/2001 they would do something about the border problem but hey maybe next time right. I would think that is a major part of homeland security.

It really is not so..We do not cater to Latinos in the United States from my perspective. Actually, many businesses and corporations take advantage of them by having them work without benefits and at wages far below the federal minimum wage. In so far as taking adavntage of the welfare system, well, that is wrong. However, it is Americans that pass the laws that allow your aunt to do so. Finally, English is not the language of the United States..Please show me in the Constitution where it says that English is the national language?

Cater to? I don't know, most countries are catering to the second-biggest languages, so I don't think America is any different. If you go to another country, you're likely to find signs in two different languages in many areas. Why? Because good business is business that sells. And business that sells has consumers of all backgrounds.

I do not think that not wearing the flag of your nation on your car in a different country is necessarily disrespectful. After all, there are many Americans who wear I <3 NY or American t-shirts when they travel abroad, no one says they're imperialists with a divisive agenda.

Are you tired of illegal immigrants (many of whom are not Hispanic), or are you simply tired of people having pride and respect for their nationality?

America never was--and hopefully never will be--an English-only nation. Depending on your demographics, many people do not speak English only in their homes.

My advice to you is to accept that the three issues you've brought up (English-only, welfare and and assimilation) are entirely different issues in themselves and learn to separate them before you start generalizing.

Well this land belongs to God. If you want to be historically correct, the Native Americans were the first ones here. you mentioned that you are Hipanic. You are not of Native American heritage So in a way, the US has catered to you. Wake Up man and appreciate the diversity. i mean this with all due respect. Appreciate the representation of the different aspects of life. God controls everything not you. God takes his time and caters to your needs, teachers take their time and cater to your needs, Im sort of catering to your needs now by providing you with some insight to your question. Just rethink your position and your views on human life. Appreciate things more. God bless you and your mother.

By the way, I am also Hispanic.

I have to agree with God's Son. Personaly I think it is quite amazing that we have catered to the Spanish so much. We have not catered to other immigrants in the same way. Usually it is a more doggy-dog world.
