Latest 2007 FBI Crime Statistics
After rising for two straight years, the estimated number of violent crimes in the nation declined in 2007. Property crime declined for the fifth straight year. And each of the seven specific offense categories -- from aggravated assault to murder -- was down from 2006, according to the FBI's Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) program. The agency annually releases statistics on violent crimes like murder, rape and robbery and on property crimes such as burglary and vehicle theft. Not all agencies participate in the voluntary UCR program and therefore are not reflected in the data.
Each year the FBI's Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) program collects monthly counts of crimes from thousands of law enforcement agencies. This includes information about violent crime offenses (murder and nonnegligent manslaughter, forcible rape, robbery, and aggravated assault), and property crime offenses (burglary, larceny-theft, motor vehicle theft, and arson). Not all agencies participate in the voluntary UCR program and therefore are not reflected in the data. Select a city for detailed crime data on that city.
An important note about the numbers: The report features a prominent message cautioning against using the statistics to rank cities or counties. Such rankings can lead to simplistic or incomplete analyses, overlooking the many variables impacting crime and its reporting.

I guess you believe that continuing to use that link of yours will make it true. At least in your mind Tony. You forgot to mention that bit of info about the link you refer to as accurate and factual. Talk about a biased piece of reporting. The majority of the groups they focused on to include in their list are white associated hate groups. So which race do you think most others are going to focus on? The neo- Conferates? Or the Black Separatists?
edit: I just checked for "Hate Crime - Crime in the United States 2008". Funny those Hate Crime Statistics aren't even out yet. Only 2007's. Now if my local Chief of police gets the new 2008 reports, I'll see them around Oct. of this year.
Released January 12, 2008 Preliminary still indicates lies being told by your link. What a surprise is that though eh!
Preliminary figures indicate that, as a whole, law enforcement agencies throughout the Nation reported a decrease of 3.5 percent in the number of violent crimes brought to their attention for the first six months of 2008 when compared with figures reported for the same time in 2007. The violent crime category includes murder, forcible rape, robbery, and aggravated assault. The number of property crimes in the United States from January to June of 2008 decreased 2.5 percent when compared with data from the same time period in 2007. Property crimes include burglary, larceny-theft, and motor vehicle theft. Arson is also a property crime, but data for arson are not included in property crime totals. Figures for 2008 indicate that arson decreased 5.6 percent in 2008 when compared to 2007 figures.
The data presented in Tables 1 and 2 indicate the percent change in offenses known to law enforcement for 2007 and 2008 by population group and geographic region, respectively. Table 3 reflects the percent change within the Nation for consecutive years (each year compared to the prior year). Table 4 presents the number of offenses known to law enforcement for agencies having a resident population of 100,000 and over and providing 6 months of complete data for 2008. In addition, Table 4 presents 6 months of 2007 data, where available, as a point of comparison. All data in this report are preliminary.

Going global to fight gangs
http://www.latimes.com/news/opinion/la-oe-delgadillo18-2008aug18,0,1640811.story
Excerpt: "The two fastest-growing and most powerful gangs in the world are homegrown products of Los Angeles. The Mara Salvatrucha gang, or MS-13, and the 18th Street gang, known in Central America as Mara 18, sprang up in Pico-Union and the densely populated neighborhoods around MacArthur Park. But unlike many local street gangs, these two were entrepreneurial: They recruited Central American immigrants across the city and then expanded farther -- throughout Mexico, El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras. Conservative estimates put MS-13's ranks at 20,000 and 18th Street's at 30,000 worldwide."
