Ok my family are considering a move to the USA but because it was my idea I have to research everything and if i can cover every issue below and it's all successful then it will happen so:

I need help with the following:(websites would be very helpful)

GREEN CARD: Is my dad eligible to get one, how do you apply for one.
VISA: It will be a family of 4 moving so do we all need a visa, how do we apply for them?
HOUSING: Were interested in Miami and Jacksonville so are there any estate agents for houses in those places. I heard something about repossesed houses so would there be any info on those in those places. (I no it's cheap but hey).
EMPLOYMENT: Is there any jobs websites for Miami, showing job vacancies.
Shipping: Any websites on info about shipping furniture from England to the US (and prices).
EDUCATION: A list of possible schools, colleges and universities in Miami and Jacksonville.

I know it's a lot to ask but I really want this move and i need your help. Thanks.

Why would you want to limit your college search to Miami or Jacksonville?

Sorry, that one jumped out at me, and by the way, a student visa is a whole lot easier to get than a green card (although there are limits on how much you can work.) I suspect your Dad's best bet is an H1B which opens again in April unless he wants something temporary or qualifies for an unusual niche job. You have to have the application in the day they open in April, no joke, although maybe they will cut down a bit on the Indian outsourcing companies that took so much of the quota this year (they were all gone the first day.)

For you if you are university age, you might try a student visa with a US university that does exchanges with the UK (my nephew went to Oxford for a semester when attending Princeton, for example.)

Go to uscis.gov for the various options and click on permanent residency. However, you usually have to start with an H1B professional visa unless you have family here petitioning you, under current law.

drixnot2 gave some good links, as well.

The best thing you can do is telephone the American Embassy in London (assuming you are in Britain)

They will be able to give you all the advice you need.

Be warned it is extremely hard to move to America they dont just give out Green Cards to anyone.

Being extremely wealthy will help your application also having relatives that already live there and are American citizens as well.

You could be waiting years and years and years to move to America thats if they allow you at all.

Also with the current terrorism alerts in America and other countries it will also depend on what your religions and nationalities are and your political views.

Although they will not tell you that directly, it will say that in the forms you fill in it will say it in a more subtle way.

Also they like people to have a trade or be a professional at something Dr, Nurse ,Plumber, Carpenter something like that.

Cant blame them for being like this after what happened in New York Sad Terrible day.

Hope this helps. Good Luck.

You will need a day in London to visit the Embassy...a phone call will not be much help. see if you can make an appointment.

It will be very hard to get a green card to alow you to work. Someone must have a skilled profession ....then they get offered a job(on a temporary visa)....then with the backing of the job company you can apply for a green card providing it can be proved that the company has advertised the vacancy first and its in a "skill shortage profession"......aircaft technician etc Get sound advice first and be prepared for a long wait.

I will ask my parents because when we moved from the UK to the USA I was only 11 but now I'm back in the UK at age 29 . I am dual nationality so I didn't need a green card but my dad did since he's British. I think you can contact the American Embassey and see what they think. That is a great way to start! Good luck!

Before you look at employment, education and housing you need to be able to immigrate here. Every family member will need a visa and each of you will need to qualify for a specific type of visa. either a family based visa or an employment visa.

you need to qualify for a visa by meeting a few requirements. We need to know the situation of each family member to know how to qualify.

It's very unlikely your family qualifies for visas and the process time can be anywhere from 1 year to 30 years.

Is your dad living in the States, does he work for a US company?

Green card is a sponsored status, usually by family or employer. You can not sponsor yourself, and first need to be on the correct valid visa to apply for one. This takes years.

Visa - Your dad would need a work visa H/L visa you need a higher form of education, and/or highly needed skills. The US employer would sponsor you for the visa, and have to prove you are not taking a job away from an American

Housing - Mortgage to get a mortgage you need a SSN, to get a SSN you need a work visa, to get a work visa you need a US employer. The US employer would pay to ship your property out here. To ship my property out here from England and the cost of the move was around $100,000, including the relocation company fees, rental fees, and plane tickets etc etc

Education - Have to be on a valid visa for school and prove you can support yourself financially while in school. You need a SSN to enter college here, to get a SSN you need the visa

You are putting the cart before the horse. Your only priority at this time should be obtaining the visas. That could take years.

I think a better idea would be for you and your family to move to Canada.
