This morning, i was on a Facebook page and there was a post about illegal immigrants getting free driving permits or something like that. A lot of people commented expressing their outrage, and a lot of people commented stuff like "here come the racist comments" and "all these ignorant racist people here piss me off" and stuff like that. But my question is, why do people assume its racist?

As a legal immigrant allow me to enlighten you; the ONLY "logical" reason to oppose illegal immigration is racism! Illegal immigrants are a HUGE net benefit to the economy since they cannot collect State or Federal monies (so don't cost YOU, the taxpayer, ANYTHING), and because they work for far less than Federal Minimum wage producing goods that YOU can then enjoy at a lower price!

This is NOT just "my opinion", we actually have a real-life example of the economic impact of "getting rid of illegals"; in June of 2011, Georgia instituted the harshest anti-illegal legislation in the Union...and the illegals all left that State...if you pay Federal taxes, then you are STILL paying a little each year to replenish the money the Feds had to fork out to rescue that State's economy!

Hold your nose, look the other way, and stop pretending your disdain for people just trying for a better life is anything BUT pure racism!

Since we aren't privy to the comments of the article, we have absolutely no way of knowing if the people commenting were, indeed, making racist comments about immigrants or if they were simply discussing policy. Provide a link to the Facebook link so that we can find out if you are telling the truth or not. Based on the comments in this forum regarding illegals, and the comments by numerous right wing officials, much of the commentary regarding illegals is entirely racist. Not all of it, of course, but much of it.

For example: republican Steve King, who claims that all illegals are 'drug runners with calves the size of cantaloupes'. Or the republican who claimed that all illegals were 'wet backs'. Or the policy of rewarding illegals from Cuba wit unlimited welfare aid and benefits when they step foot on our shore illegally, while having a completely different policy for the EXACT same action when it comes to illegals from Mexico or South America.

Only the low IQ, misinformed MORONS/low information voters feel that way. I live on the Southern border and even the vast majority of LEGAL hispanics here are opposed to illegal immigrants and the "pathway/amnesty" to citizenship scam. Clearly since there is NO DEFINED race for illegals (all 3 races have illegals here) it's impossible to be racist for opposing illegal behavior of any kind and this included immigration.

BTW there's almost as many morons on facebook as there is here in YA

In their view, it's racist if you don't believe Mestizos (who make up the vast majority of illegal immigrants) should get special privileges that most other people don't get. After all, or so these people believe, these Mestizos are a delicate and endangered people who come from horrible circumstances (often circumstances created by other Mestizos or by descendants of white Spaniards).

The accusation is based on believing that Mestizos are deserving of special privileges because they're more at risk than other people. To deny such privileges - so goes the accusation - is to be inhumane to people in need. The flaw in the premise that Mestizos are more deserving based on need.

If deservedness of privilege should be based on need, then our laws should be tailored to the needs of individuals and not applied uniformly and equally to all! For example, why not allow poorer people with large families to avoid prosecution for robbing banks or liquor stores to get cash? Why not allow people who've been physically threatened to avoid prosecution for murder if they kill the person who threatened them without actually assaulting them? The reason is regardless of need, we HAVE to apply laws and privileges evenly, regardless of need, or we risk the collapse of law and order, and the subsequent collapse of society.

California has decided to allow illegals to obtain drivers permits. Many of those illegals have valuable skills to offer this nation, and it makes sense to allow them to get around to and from work and the like while awaiting the decision on whether to allow them to gain legal status or to order them deported.

Why would Republicans rather see immigrants driving without licenses and insurance?

........maybe the ones that said that were illegal or children who haven't a clue about what illegal aliens can do to a countries economy, as they don't pay bills or taxes their parents do, so they are oblivious until it starts to affect them directly

All Democrats believe CRIMINAL and "brown person" are the same thing, so it's "racist" to oppose CRIME.
