Question:
Why do liberals claim the caravan people are just good people seeking asylum when the border patrol chief observes something way different?

Scott, the Border Patrol's chief agent in San Diego, said Monday legitimate asylum seekers are few and far between.

'What I saw on the border yesterday was not people walking up to Border Patrol agents and asking to claim asylum,' he said. 'Matter of fact, one of the groups I watched, one of the groups that several of them were arrested, they passed 10 or 15 marked Border Patrol units ... numerous uniformed personnel, as they were chanting, waving a Honduran flag, and throwing rocks at the agents.'

The same reason conservatives claim they're all criminals. Because we're polarized to the point where people will take hard stances on issues they know nothing about just because their political leaders told them to. In reality, if this caravan is anything like its many predecessors, they're mostly economic migrants, a few legitimate asylum cases and a handful of ne'er-do-wells. No group is all good or all bad.

Because they live in fantasy land.

They are legitimate asylum seekers. The reason that they weren't walking up to Border Patrol agents and asking to claim asylum is that they had already been told that they would be illegally denied the right to claim asylum if the did that. What is not legitimate is that, in violation of U.S. law, the border patrol is not even allowing most of them to ask to claim asylum.

You are dealing with the Mob mentality. They see the wall and rush it, trying to get over before getting caught. This is Not what Reasonable People do. They already know that the US wants to turn them back, so they will do whatever is necessary to get in.

Sounds like complete nonsense.

There's two basically two options here: either they're people who want to make an asylum claim or they're people who want to illegally immigrate. If they're looking to illegally immigrate then they're not going to draw attention to themselves by chanting, waving flags, or throwing rocks at people. And if they are trying to illegally immigrate then the Border Patrol should arrest them, not let them walk by. This sounds like a made up story to justify a political position, like all those people who claim they see SNAP beneficiaries buying kobe beef and lobster with their EBT cards.

are trying to go to the United States illegally. (Ariana Drehsler/KQED)

“If anybody crosses the border in between the ports of entry, we arrest them. It doesn’t even matter if it’s a United States citizen. It’s illegal to cross the border in between the ports of entry. Then they get taken to a Border Patrol station, and the process is fairly similar for us at that point," he says.

"Part of the questioning process for an illegal alien is, ‘Do you have credible fear?’ If they claim to have credible fear, we’re done. We don’t make any determination about ... is that fear valid? Is that fear not valid? You basically just check a box. And then the individual goes for a credible fear hearing with CIS (or the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services).

"So, there’s no benefit for a Border Patrol agent to try to dissuade somebody from claiming credible fear. It doesn’t change his specific workload,” explains Scott.

Of course he didn't see people claiming asylum.

Trump has declared that no claims of asylum would be accepted, not even the limited number they do accept normally.

So what you have is a case of Trump declaring we'd not accept asylum cases and people rioting in response.

Quit playing the innocent.

They are blinded by the truth. What they see is bring everybody over. Who cares about the 10,000 homeless vets, or the kids that go hungry. The law dosn't apply to the liberals, they seem that they are some sort higher people because they have a liberal degree in pottery.
