I would have said: Boy that fire at the Triangle Waist Company in New York City, which claimed the lives of 146 young immigrant workers, is one of the worst disasters since the beginning of the Industrial Revolution.

And I would have thought, this incident will have great significance because it highlights the inhumane working conditions to which industrial workers can be subjected.

That's exactly what I would have thought.

All thinking people, immigrants or not, were horrified by the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire. It shed light on working conditions for the poor, again, immigrants and non-immigrants alike. Not quite sure where you're going with your question but the event gave major support to pro-union groups like the IWW. It's fascinating reading and worth taking the time to research. Probably worth mention that the US didn't have immigration laws or quotas when this happened. Everyone there was a legal immigrant and most of them were white, if that's the gist of your question.

The triangle factory fire gave a negative light to the nativism in the country. If i were an immigrant, I would probably start a labor union or something.

yes sweatshops still exist, especially in third world (poor) countries. Nike shops in the late 90's were a good example.

Funny, I reacted with the same dismay when I read about it happening a few years ago in North Carolina as I would have in 1911.
