Many states are likely to report similar disappointments. California officials said this week that April personal income tax-collections lagged projections by 30%. Federal estimates don't bode well for states, either.

As of April 30, federal non-withheld income taxes for April fell 17.6% from the same month a year earlier, said a report Tuesday from the Nelson A. Rockefeller Institute of Government at the State University of New York.

Illinois Comptroller Daniel Hynes said in his April report that the state's cash position for the quarter ending June 30 "looks exceedingly difficult." By June 10, Illinois must repay $1.75 billion, plus interest, in short-term borrowing.

Meanwhile, the state still owes billions of dollars to hospitals, universities, social-service providers and others. Mr. Hynes said the state's backlog of unpaid bills probably will exceed $5.5 billion at the end of June.

"Eventually, many providers of essential state services may be unable to continue their operations at current levels, and those vulnerable segments of the population to whom they provide services will suffer the consequences," he wrote.http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748703686304575228582377071698.html?mod=WSJ_hpp_MIDDLENexttoWhatsNewsThird

Luis Gutierrez is a racist scumbag first off, Illegals do not pay income taxes secondly. thirdly a lot of these illegals send money back to mexico which is money lost, and finally the state is corrupt and will find a way to spend everything and more that comes in alot due to government employees and their outrageous salaries and pensions and this is also why our country is drowning in debt We need to cut their wages and pensions drastically their free ride is over

Because illegals do not pay as much in taxes as the proponents claim. Most illegals file under a false social security number and claim 5 or 6 exemptions on their W-4's. This results in almost no taxes witheld from their paychecks. However the person whose social security number was stolen will get a bill from the IRS for the taxes the illegal didn't pay. Another thing to remember is that in Los Angeles the average cost per student is over $9,000. Does anybody here think that an illegal with three children is paying $27,000 in taxes?

Are you people retarded? (stupid question, clearly you are, by default).

Genius above me says:

"Supporters say illegals pay at least a billion a day in taxes and trillions in buying power per year with millions of illegals in Chicago there should be no shortage of taxes."

Hey stupid, do you not know the difference between INCOME tax, and SALES tax. There is nobody on earth that tries to say that illegals pay INCOME tax. That article is about income tax. Did you completely miss the phrase "INCOME TAX" like 20 times in the article? You guys need to stick to Nascar and KKK rally's, politics are WAY over your head lmao.

Gee, I wonder who will get best answer for this question. Even though that moron doesn't have a clue what she's talking about, she took a clear anti-illegal stance, just what you're looking for. You cons are so predictable and play favoritism everytime.

First, I've never heard anybody say that illegal immigrants pay taxes. So I don't know where you got that from. How could they pay income tax if they don't have social security numbers?

Second, even IF they did pay taxes, this problem is about lower tax revenues so they wouldn't make a difference anyways. Anybody who understands simple math understands that even if the illegals paid tax, they still make up a small percentage of our overall population. So if there is a tax deficit and not enough people are paying taxes, I doubt the illegals, who make up less than 1% of our population, would make any difference if they were paying.

Point:

We already know they don't pay taxes, but if you are trying to prove they don't, this is the wrong way to do it because we would still be having this problem even if every illegal immigrant paid taxes.

Millions of illegals live in Chicago alone.Supporters say illegals pay at least a billion a day in taxes and trillions in buying power per year with millions of illegals in Chicago there should be no shortage of taxes. Luis Gutierrez he want be no where around. He has exclusively dictated his term to amnesty for illegals traveling across the country ignoring ILL and then they wonder why they have problems there.

What does any of this have to do with illegal immigrants? Point out how it's related.

It seems that you've taken an issue about lost income tax revenues, and somehow correlated this with illegal immigrants, without pointing out what the connection is between the two. This belongs in the political section, not the immigration section, as it has nothing to do with illegals.
