OK so i became US citizen through my parents (i was under 18 when they got theirs so i automatically became a citizen) I applied for passport 2 weeks ago, and realized my license was expired 2 days ago, i went to a local DMV to get it renewed but they asked for a citizen certificate which i do not have, they also said passport would be fined but my passport is currently being processed. If i show my passport process proofs, will they renew it? or anything through my green card? I really need some clarifications! Thanks!

Your Green Card became invalid when you became an American. Using it would be document fraud, a crime.

Wait 'til you passport shows up in the mail. Then go to the SSA office and update their records, which is super important. Afterward head over to the DMV and take care of your driver's license. Until then, stay put.

Oh, and from now on, make it a habit to check the validity of your vital documents . . . you know . . . like responsible people do it.

Your green card is NOT valid identification since you are a US citizen. Your parents needed to get you your certificate of naturalization or US passport when they naturalized & got theirs. They may have been cheap, but you really needed proper documentation immediately.

Why would you have a green card if you're a citizen?

What citizenship is your passport for?

No. you need to show your actual passport. you will not be able to renew our license until you get your passport.

The alternative is to get a certificate of citizenship, but that will cost moreand take longer than getting your passport.
